In June US furniture manufacturers in the residential sector were again unable to stop the negative development in incoming orders and turnover, which has been ongoing since February. According to the monthly survey conducted by consulting company Smith Leonard, turnover declined by 4% to US$2.550bn. In the reporting month incoming orders decreased at an even more significant rate of 6% to US$2.384bn. Orders in hand also fell by 5% to US$2.044bn and thus declined for the second time over the course of the year so far.

Accumulated over the first six months, incoming orders decreased by 3% to US$14.056bn compared to the corresponding period in the preceding year. As of the end of June, turnover - at US$14.152bn - stagnated at approximately the same level as the preceding year.
